Per Requester: Very Good Fit; This use would be a good fit in asparagus IPM because it would be applied post-harvest, immediately after the last harvest of spears, when emerged weeds can be targeted before fern development. Glufosinate-P has little soil residual activity and would be useful for managing resistant weed populations, especially glyphosate- and ALS-resistant pigweed species. It could be integrated with residual herbicides and other cultural practices to improve weed control and resistance management:06/26;

| Reasons for need: |
Broadleaf weeds and grasses, especially glyphosate- and ALS-resistant pigweed species. Primary: Pigweed species, including redroot pigweed and Powell amaranth. This use is needed to provide asparagus growers with an effective post-harvest option for emerged broadleaf and grass weeds, particularly glyphosate- and ALS-resistant pigweed species. Redroot pigweed and Powell amaranth are major weeds in asparagus and can be very difficult to control when resistant biotypes are present. Glufosinate-P would provide improved postemergence weed control compared with currently available contact herbicides and would help diversify weed management programs. Current technologies used: Glyphosate, 2,4-D, Dicamba:06/26;
