14140 TIAFENACIL ( ISK ) SUGARCANE ( 99 = MISC GROUP ) RESEARCHABLE, RESIDUE & E/CS DATA NEEDED

Reduced Risk Status:
IPM Compatibility: Per Requester: Very Good Fit; Tiafenacil use will offer a new mode of action for controlling the target pest, thus aiding in resistance management:06.26;
Reasons for need: Itchgrass [Rottboellia cochinchinensis (Lour.) W.D. Clayton]. Currently, the sugarcane industry is limited to paraquat for non-selective weed control utilizing postemergence-directed applications. With concerns about the future of paraquat’s registration status, other herbicide options are needed. Tiafenacil may also provide benefits in controlling other troublesome weeds such as johnsongrass [Sorghum halepense (L.) Pers.], ragweed parthenium (Parthenium hysterophorus L.), and morningglory (Ipomoea spp.). Current technologies being used: Tillage, preemergence (pendimethalin, trifluralin, clomazone), postemergence (asulam, trifloxysulfuron-sodium), and postemergence-directed (paraquat) herbicides:06/26;
Requesting State(s): LA:Finger, A* ;
PCR Use Pattern: Apply Reviton twice every 14 days at 3 oz/A as postemergence-directed to the bottom 6-8 inches of cane; 75 day PHI. Sugarcane should be at least 24 inches tall (overall height- top of plants).
