Reduced Risk Status: |
|
IPM Compatibility: |
Per Requester: Very Good Fit; The active ingredient is nontoxic to honeybees and humans, therefore the miticide can be used continuously during the reproductive period of the honeybee even when harvestable honey is being produced. The product can also be used in the winter months while bees are not actively reproducing, further reducing mite pressure throughout the year. Furthermore, Varroa mites that threaten bee colonies are showing increasing resistance to current industry standards for mite treatment.
|
Reasons for need: |
Varroa Destructor mite, contact miticide effective on Phoretic mites. Varroa mites are parasites that are one of the most destructive pests of honey bees. Varroa mites feed on larval and adult bees, which lead to declines in bee populations and a reduction in pollination of high value specialty crops. Current pesticides have limited usage and application windows. This biopesticide can be used continuously during the pests reproductive lifecycle:08/24;
