Reasons for need: Asian citrus psyllid. No other alternative chemical product available to provide a full 12-months worth of protection to young trees. This petition is for the development of a Regional Tolerance, which may involve generating additional residue data so support a soil drench application. Florida has had a Section 18 for this soil drench use for 12 consecutive years, and generation of this data will allow IR-4 to resubmit the clothianidin Section 3 petition:07/24;

PCR Use Pattern: Apply Belay Insecticide as a soil drench; for young 3-5 year old trees, 5-to-9 feet tall, apply 12.0 fl oz/acre (0.2 lb ai/acre). The per-tree application rate is 0.08 fl oz/tree (0.0013 lb ai/tree), based on 150 trees per acre; no more than 2 applications, 4-months RTI and 1-day PHI; apply uniformly around the base of each tree, directed at the root zone; for optimal uptake and performance, keep soil moist for 7 days following application via irrigation or rainfall; do not apply this product to blooming, pollen-shedding or nectar-producing parts of plants if bees may forage on the plants during this time period.
