13818 BENZISOTHIAZOLINONE ( NO MFG ) APPLE ( 11-10 = POME FRUIT GROUP ) IR-4 CANNOT SUPPORT AT THIS TIME

Reduced Risk Status:
IPM Compatibility: Per requestor: Very Good Fit; Benzisothiazolinone developed the same level of efficacy during a two year trial in Connecticut. No phytotoxicity was observed. Streptomycin resistant E. amylovora is susceptible to Benzisothiazolinone. Therefore, benzisothiazolinone has potential to be used as alternative to streptomycin in pesticide resistance management. Benzisothiazolinone is registered as a plant disease management material in other countries such as China;
Reasons for need: Erwinia amylovora, a bacterial pathogen and causal agent of fire blight disease. Materials that are effective for bacterial disease control is extremely limited. Fire blight is a significant issue that kills apple trees every year. Streptomycin and oxytetracycline are the most widely used materials, however, the pathogen developed resistance to these antibiotics. Streptomycin resistant E. amylovora strains were isolated in all major apple producing regions throughout the U.S;
