13710 SPIROTETRAMAT ( BAYER ) MINT ( 25AB = HERB FRESH AND DRIED LEAVES SUBGROUP ) HOLD

Reduced Risk Status: THIS AI HAS BEEN CLASSIFIED AS RR FOR ONE OR MORE FOOD USES.
IPM Compatibility: Per Requester: Very Good Fit; Nematodes are a pest of significant concern in mint production. Nematode control is important not only to prevent loss from the nematodes, but there is a significant interaction between nematodes and verticillium wilt infection and crop loss from this soilborne fungus. Spirotetramat would be the only product that would control the endoparasitic root lesion nematodes within the mint plants. Spirotetramat works very well at controlling both ecto and endoparasitic nematodes and can be applied with contact-type chemistries to optimize control. Mint currently has two nematode products labeled and one pendng. The two labeled products are both under regulatory scrutiny, therefore it is prudent for the mint industry to pursue new alternatives for nematicide products:08/23
Reasons for need: Root Lesion nematode, Norther Root-knot nematode, pin nematode; Mint has extremely limited resources for nematode control. Spirotetramat would provide systemic activity and be the only material that will control root lesion nematode within the infected mint plants:08/23; WA/Same use pattern in Washington mint fields. A chemigation use through the center pivot would be very usefull in Washington:08/23
