The invasive annual grasses (Bromus tectorum, Ventenata dubia, Taeniatherum caput-medusae and others) compete directly with native perennial grasses, forbs and shrubs. They provide fire fuel resulting in more frequent wildfire and the diverse, deep rooted native range transitions to a monoculture of shallow rooted invasive annual grass:07/23
