13684 SPIDOXAMAT ( BAYER ) SAFFLOWER ( 20B = SUNFLOWER SUBGROUP ) MFG OBJECTIVE

Reduced Risk Status:
IPM Compatibility: Per Requester: Very Good Fit; Considering a production system that incudes Pima Cotton, Processing Tomatoes and Safflower it is extremely beneficial to have rotational flexibility to plant any of these crops following an application of Spidoxamat. Safflower is extraordinarily beneficial to soil health, water management and insect pest management. Producing safflower in rotation with other crops substantially reduces the pest pressure, (plant pathogens, insects and weeds) in the overall system. Safflower is the lynchpin to sustainability for many growers in California. Having a robust portfolio of crop protection options in safflower allows growers to reduce the pest burden in the overall system. Lastly, pertaining to processing tomatoes: It appears that this product will be an important replacement for neonicitinoids that are being heavily restricted in California effective Jan-2024:07/23
Reasons for need: Western Tarnish Plant Bug, Beet leafhopper, Aphid, Whitefly; This product appears that it will be an important product for processing tomatoes in Ca. Safflower is an important rotational crop in a tomato production system. If Spidoxamat is to be applied to Tomatoes the rotational crop restriction to safflower needs to be 120 days or less. Furthermore, if Spidoxamat has efficacy on Western tarnished plant bug this this would be a very useful product in safflower production:07/23
