IPA is used as a disinfectant in the sap collection tubing. Target pests include bacteria, molds, and fungi. Existing disinfectants (e.g. chlorine bleach and H2O2) are expensive, low efficacy, cause deterioration of the collection tubing, and present potential adverse impacts on the environment
