Reasons for need: |
WEEVILS. LISTRONOTUS SPARSUS IS A WEEVIL THAT HAS EMERGED AS A PEST OF CELERY IN FLORIDA. OXAMYL (VYDATE, HIGHLY HAZARDOUS) HAS BEEN USED TO MAINTAIN POPULATIONS BELOW DAMAGING LEVELS. CYANTRANILIPROLE (EXIREL) MIGHT REPRESENT AN ALTERNATIVE TO OXAMYL. HOWEVER, EFFICACY HAS NOT BEEN CONFIRMED. THUS, THE USE OF NOVALURON WOULD PROVIDE A SAFE ALTERNATIVE TO OXAMYL FOR CONTROL OF WEEVILS. THE AVAILABILITY OF MULTIPLE MODES OF ACTION WOULD ALLOW THE MITIGATION OF POTENTIAL INSECTICIDE RESISTANCE:03/23
