| Reduced Risk Status: |
|
| IPM Compatibility: |
Per Requester: Good Fit; As a plant growth regulator, currently registered for other permanent crops (apple, stone fruit), no risk has been identified for ACC to beneficials or non-target organisms:09/25;
|
| Reasons for need: |
Efficient mechanical harvest from improved nut abscission, allowing for earlier and more uniform crop removal. Improvement in total harvestable yield and quality. Avoiding of pests and diseases from optimal harvest timing. Reduction of mummies as a tool for IPM.Increased pest and disease pressure due to climate change, as well as reduction in total yield and quality due to bloom and crop maturity variability is a problem for pistachios, as well as other tree nut crops such as almonds and pecans. Current research is occurring for ACC use in pistachios (sponsored by California Pistachio Research Board) and almonds (sponsored by Almond Board of California). A crop group label, using tested rates as well as label maximum rates, is appropriate:10/25; CA: quality enhancer, harvest aid:10/25;
