14058 FLUAZAINDOLIZINE ( CORTEVA ) GUAVA ( 23B = TROPICAL AND SUBTROPICAL, MEDIUM TO LARGE FRUIT, EDIBLE PEEL SUBGROUP ) UNDER EVALUATION

Reduced Risk Status:
IPM Compatibility: Per Request: Very Good Fit; Guava is a perennial crop, making the management recommendations of root-knot nematodes even more complicated. The growers are seeking a chemical strategy to effectively control the guava root-knot nematode. According to our discussions with guava growers, soil amendments are being used in South Florida guava orchards primarily for maintaining tree health, but not specifically for nematode control. Therefore, the use of nematicide Fluazaindolizine is compatible with cultural pest management practices, specifically for newly planted trees. This product can also be used on established trees, provided the application timing is planned according to the label's fruit harvest interval:06/25
Reasons for need: Meloidogyne enterolobii, Guava Root Knot Nematode. Since the initial detection in a Florida nursery in 2004, Meloidogyne enterolobii has spread rapidly, infecting more than 80% of guava fields surveyed in Miami-Dade County, FL (Gitonga et al., 2023). Currently, there is no registered chemical available for use in guava to control this aggressive nematode species:06/25;
