PER WSR/NCR NOMINATION COMMENTS: NOT A GOOD IPM FIT, BUT MAY PROVIDE SOME RESISTANCE MANAGEMENT IN A ROTATION WITH UNLIKE PRODUCTS; PYRETHROIDS HAVE NOT BEEN USED IN PNW CHERRY IPM PROGRAMS DUE TO IMPACT ON BENEFICIALS; THESE PROGRAMS HAVE RECENTLY HAD TO INCORPORATE PYRETHROID USE BECAUSE OF SPOTTED WING DROSOPHILA (SWD); PYRETHROIDS ARE ONE OF FEW CLASSES OF INSECTICIDES EFFECTIVE AGAINST SWD; BECAUSE OF PYRETHROID IMPACTS ON BENEFICIALS, MORE OUTBREAKS OF SPIDER MITES ARE OCCURRING; INTRODUCING ANOTHER PYRETHROID INTO CHERRY PRODUCTION FOR THE CONTROL OF BROWN MARMORATED STINK BUG (BMSB) WON'T MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE PYRETHROID-INDUCED PROBLEMS THAT ARE ALREADY BEING SEEN IN CHERRY IPM PROGRAMS; BIFENTHRIN IS ONE OF THE BETTER PYRETHROIDS AT MANAGING BMSB AND CHERRY GROWERS WILL NEED BETTER MATERIALS NOW THAT BMSB IS GETTING ESTABLISHED IN OR AND WA; BIFENTHRIN WILL ALSO BE USEFUL IN CHERRY IPM PROGRAMS IF IT HAS A SHORT PHI AND IF EXPORT TOLERANCES ARE ESTABLISHED THAT SUPPORT EXPORT MARKETS; USE IS BEST FOR LATE SEASON APPLICATIONS TO AVOID POLLINATORS SO THAT LOWER RISK PRODUCTS CAN BE USED EARLY IN THE SEASON
